Couldn’t agree more with what Flockey said here. Especially about feeling the music… feeling different types of music and not “faking the funk.” It IS 2012 and locking needs to evolve!

Bulletproof Funk

I can’t hit my chest!

This is news to me. Before I thought I was hitting my chest but the hits were really just coming from my legs/pelvis.

Now I know the bottleneck…

Also, locking is awesome @_@

Slowly getting there…just stay focused.

The next step

Some things about yourself are obvious to everybody except yourself, unfortunately. Sometimes it takes a jolt. So this is what I think it is: this abstract concept of “feeling the music”. Not just listening to it and knowing it, but really embodying it. It’s not as much a technical thing as an emotional thing. It’s like…a confidence, or a state of mind. A willingness. I think a lot of people are born with the talent and that makes them really dope freestylers on very little technique. Well, I wasn’t. Now I’ve amassed a lot of sheer technique and a good understanding of music I think I have to just…take that step. Let it go.

This is sorta, like, the big moment. The tipping point between just another guy trying to become something and the something itself. I just have to commit to it.

I always did have commitment issues.
